“We want to invest in our community. What should we do?”
We can turn your goals, resources, and community needs into a program with a clear purpose, model, partners, budget, and measures of success.
Social-impact design + implementation studio
Scratch Paper helps organizations design, build, and launch programs that create meaningful social impact. Bring us a challenge, an opportunity, a community you want to serve, a commitment you've made, or an idea you haven't figured out how to execute. We figure out what should exist — and help you make it real.

What can you bring us?
“We want to invest in our community. What should we do?”
We can turn your goals, resources, and community needs into a program with a clear purpose, model, partners, budget, and measures of success.
“We have an idea. We don't know how to build it.”
We can take it from concept through program design, implementation planning, launch, and pilot.
“We received funding. Now we have to deliver.”
We can turn grant commitments, corporate investments, or public initiatives into an executable program—and help coordinate the people and resources required to make it happen.
“We need to create a workforce or education program.”
We can design pathways, curriculum, experiences, partnerships, and implementation models that connect people to skills and opportunity.
“We have resources that could do more.”
A facility. Technology. Employees. Community partners. Funding. Expertise. We can connect the pieces and design something meaningful around them.
“We know there's a problem. We don't know the solution.”
Perfect. That's an X.
What we do
01
Figure out X.
We investigate the challenge, understand the people it affects, identify opportunities and resources, engage stakeholders, and determine what should exist.
02
Turn X into something buildable.
We design the program, experience or initiative—including partnerships, curriculum, staffing, technology, budget, timeline, implementation strategy, and measures of success.
03
Make X real.
We help assemble the people and resources, coordinate implementation, launch and pilot the work, measure what happens, improve the model, and prepare it for long-term operation.
From plan to practice
The work is designed to move from a good idea into a real experience for people and communities.
Work in action
A glimpse of the hands-on, community-centered work that informs how Scratch Paper approaches every new X.
Our five pillars
Five focus areas. One practical goal: create more pathways to opportunity.
Programs and experiences built with communities—not simply delivered to them.
Experiential, project-based, and career-connected learning designed around how people actually learn.
Programs that connect people to skills, credentials, employers, careers, and economic opportunity.
Hands-on technology, making, engineering, digital skills, and innovation experiences that expand access and confidence.
Programs, experiences, and ecosystems that help people test ideas, build businesses, and learn through doing.

About Scratch Paper
There are plenty of people who can write a strategy. There are plenty of people who can operate a program once someone has figured out exactly what it is. Scratch Paper works in the space between the two. We bring together strategy, program design, education, community engagement, partnerships, operations, creativity, and implementation to turn complicated ideas into things that actually exist. Sometimes that means starting with a blank sheet of paper. Sometimes it means taking an existing idea and making it better.Sometimes it means connecting people and resources that were already there but had never been put together in quite the right way. We don't stop at the recommendation. We help build the answer.
Scratch Paper grew out of more than 15 years of work at the intersection of education, workforce development, STEM, entrepreneurship, community engagement, and cross-sector partnerships. Founder Feowyn MacKinnon's work has included designing and launching makerspaces, workforce initiatives, entrepreneurship programs, experiential-learning models, corporate-community partnerships, and complex programs involving educators, employers, nonprofits, government, philanthropy, and community partners.
